It’s been harder and harder to post on this blog these days since my store (brick and mortar) opening is fast approaching. So many details to work out and errands to fullfill, it’s hard to keep up with what’s going on in the wireless world. I’m being prudent and picking stories that is missed by most other mobile blogs. If you want news about handset releases you can go straight to Endgadget or GigaOM Mobile or Mobile Burn. Sure at times I also will post about handset releases but sometimes I like to deliver news about what effects your wireless use. Here’s a story that virtual most other mobile blogs have overlooked.
[Background]…About a month ago, several mobile news websites and mobile blogs, including myself posted about major carriers blocking their customers from calling into certain phones number associated with Conference Calling Service websites like FreeConference.com. After much outpouring of complaints from consumers, non-profits and businesses which depend on the affordable costs of free conferencing services, the major carriers have quietly stopped blocking access to the numbers used by these services. According to Business Wire report…”Federal Communications Commission said it had received more than 1,000 such complaints. As a result, all major carriers have agreed not to block any calls for now, said FCC spokeswoman Tamar Lipper.” Sprint Nextel is the last major carrier to discontinue its illegal blocking.
